How Do I Install An APK File on Android?

Installing an APK directly on an android is also known as "sideloading". Not all phone manufacturers support the Google Play store and some apps on Google Play are restricted to certain countries - directly installing an APK file lets you get around these restrictions.

When an app is restricted to certain countries this is called "region locking", and it is one of the most common reasons people install APK's on their phone rather than download them directly. Step 1 - Enable installation of apps from "Unknown Sources"

Before you can install APK files that you downloaded outside of Google Play or Amazon, you must change a setting on your phone which allows you to install APK files from outside sources.  On most versions of Android you can find this setting under Settings -> Security. You should see a checkbox for "Unknown Sources", check the box and tap OK if prompted. Now you're ready to install your application. 

Step 2 - Download the APK File to Your Device
